PRINCETON PUBLIC SCHOOLS

MAY 2026 REFERENDUM

Education and career pathways are evolving, but many of our classrooms were built for another era and have not kept pace with student needs. For several years, Princeton Public Schools has thoughtfully planned for investments in our schools that best reflect our district’s needs and support the future of our community.

This planning has included meeting with a 30-member community task force to evaluate options to improve learning spaces and hear the priorities of community members. Additionally, the district has conducted comprehensive facility studies, educational adequacy assessments, 11 community sessions, demographic and enrollment studies, surveys, and more.

The Roaring Forward plan narrowly failed in November 2025, but the needs at our schools remain. Since November, the school board has considered community feedback, explored other options to address our needs, and determined that the Roaring Forward investment plan is still the best path forward for supporting our students, district, and community. That is why the school board voted to present voters with a bond referendum once again on May 12, 2026.

If approved, the plan would direct $51.35 million to Career and Technical Education spaces, classrooms, and building infrastructure, along with $750,000 annually over the next decade for essential classroom technology. The only change from November is a reduced tax impact.

Waiting longer would only delay critical improvements and likely increase costs. Scaling it back would leave major problems unsolved. This is an important community decision about the future of our schools. We encourage residents to learn more about the proposal and participate in the May vote.
